UCAS - Activities in preparation for higher education

Hey,

Am I right in thinking that in this section you can say which open days you go to? As there's only space for two 'activities', if you say that you went to, say, Southampton and Newcastle's open day, would Leicester, for example, be more likely to reject you?

Hope that's clear

it's more for things like higher ed conferences etc, not open days.

The field says 'For example: summer schools, Saturday university, campus days, summer academies, taster courses and booster courses. If you have not taken any such course, please leave these sections blank.'

Well I went to a careers event in UCL, if I put that down will other unis assume I'm applying to UCL and turn me down?

You're putting way too much thought into this. I put down medlink (although I never mentioned its name, just 3 days at nottingham uni etc) in that section, and tbh I dont think anyone even bothered with it.

No, they'll just assume you went to a careers event.

Best not to over-think these things

PS I skipped this section completely.

Does Pre-Med at Imperial go under this section? Should I mention it in the personal statement?

I wouldn't... it really was a waste of time.

So do open days count or not?

No it says on the application they dont count
It's not meant for open days and the like, it's more for stats purposes to establish whether outreach programmes and the like actually influence an applicant's choices or chances of success

Yes. But not many people bother. It's usually good to avoid mentioned specific universities in your application.
