Grey Hairs

Right at the mo im stressed upto my eyeballs not only with exams but also a continuing argument with my college. In the last 2 months ive noticed that ive got a number of pure white hairs and im not sure if its because of stress or if i am going grey/white. Is anyone else witnessing the same with them or their friends? Its really worrying because it makes me feel really uneasy to go out in a few years time with my friends with grey hair into a nightclub or whatever.

cheers
usualy when you get gray hairs from stress they fall out as soon as your calm again and grown back normal with colour.
my friend had them at gcse
after she had he results none at all

plus i remember reading some were that they fall out after stress is over.

hey that makes sense, the white hairs havent been like normal hairs, they looked like they were about to fall out because they were like- well dead, really brittle.

One of my boy mates has a few grey hairs, he's getting more as we get older. I hope they are just due to stress for you, but this isn't the case with my friend. I suppose i'm just warning you that you can start to develop grey hairs at an early age. xx

if they persist after exams, you can always dye your hair...

i've had a few grey hairs since i was 13! they are a completely different texture to my normal hair - they seem to stick straight out!

during stressful times they seem to multiply and then stabilise again. my sister's had them since she was young too so i think it's just genetic.

sometimes they annoy me a bit, but then my hair is still obviously dark brown, it's not like there's loads. and when i have highlights they hide the roots well!

i just put a tint all over every few months.

See my grandpa went white at a very young age, my dad (his son) has always had a few white hairs since he was 20, but it never got bad. Im just hoping that i have slightly less than my dad (it might be a dying gene passing through).

Im hoping its stress because ive only noticed them in the last 2 months, possibly less- and i am really stressed out, to the point where my chest is a little tight. Could also be because that my diet isnt bad but isnt brilliant, so ive gone to holland and barret and got some vitamins for the hair, and also mens multivitamins.

Colouring them- yeah sounds good but for a guy i'd have to do that like fortnightly, no? (im no expert lol).

Well there was a guy I sorta knew who had a lotta grey hairs at 16, but hey just get the old grecian 3000 out lol :p:
Fabrizio Ravanelli went grey at 17.

My friends dad went grey at 16

So you might need to start stocking up on hair dye now :p:

But seriously. Yes, it may be stress related, just wait and see if they dissappear after the exams. If not, then thats when you panic, not now.

You seem to be a bit confused about grey / white hair. When people say they've got grey hair, they've actually developed a few purely white hairs - the hair loses its pigment completely. Because it's mixed in with normal coloured hair, it looks grey. Also, grey hair is thicker. Just telling you so you don't think you're some kind of freak.

Anyway, if it's just a few hairs and you're feeling unusually stressed, it will probably sort itself out. I found a few white hair when I was about 20, but pulled them out and haven't noticed any since. On the other hand, it is possible to go grey at your age. If you're a girl, dye it. If you're a boy, grey hair on a man is actually quite sexy - see Phillip Schofield.

.......i don't wish to sound offensive - but it is really THAT important? Does a few white/grey hairs change the person that you ARE?? If you find your friends making unseemly remarks about it - I'd venture to suggest that they're NOT friends - merely acquaintances

is melbourne female or male?
male i think. my boyfriend has a few white hairs poking about and i just pull em out for him, dying your hair isnt really worth it unless you have like
HUGE patches of grey/white or go completly grey/white. its probably just stress. wait
unitll the exams are over and see what happens .

no it's not. but i can tell that you don't have any!

it is a little soul destroying when you find grey hairs and are only young, as it's so widely thought of as a sign or being old. I know that it doesn't change who i am or anything - but i still feel cheated that it's if i'm feeling down in general i feel it's very unfair!
