I'm not someone who can deal with their nerves all that well - but when I done my driving test, I just thought of it as just going out for a drive, with someone else in tow. Just drive like you normally would  Good luck!

I think taking a propranolol tablet is a bit extreme. I managed to pass my driving test 2nd time round by thinking I was driving with the queen at the back:woo:

I have my driving test on Thursday

Firstly... good luck with yours

secondly... I used to think to myself how I'd stop myself from getting too nervous. Plus I'm fasting so I can't take any of these tablets and things.

But I just thought to myself, my driving lessons were 2 hours long, so driving for less than an hour is quite simple compared to the concentration I need in my lessons. I also treat each driving lesson as a test and if I do anything that would fail a test during a lesson then I would get pretty darn annoyed with myself.

Or you could just go in thinking that it's just like a normal lesson and take no notice of the person sitting next to you being an examiner. But this is quite difficult to do in my opinion.

Theres no point thinking ooo la di da its just like driving with my instructor, because it isn't. I passed on my 5th time and i failed the previous 4 on my nerves. Only passed because I was starting to not care due to failing so much, and also some calmer that you spray on your tongue which calmed me down alot.

A stiff drink.

Honestly i wasn't even worried. If you are confident in your ability to drive then it should be a breeze. Don't think about it too much, it's only driving after all.

Knock a few pints of your locals strongest lager! Its a fact you can drive better when your pissed.

You'll be fine, honestly! I was so nervous on my lesson before my test, I sat in the carpark and said to my instructor I didn't want to do it because I was so scared! But once you're in the car, you're absolutely fine. The more you panic, the harder your test will seem and you'll most likely have to go through it all again..Just relax and you'll be fine! Good luck
there's those calming things

or just don't think about it

It is no different at all, if anything it's easier than with your instructor. You are driving for less amount of time, you do less manoeuvres, are likely to be driving on road you have driven on before and best of all, it is very likely you hardly have to say a word unless you want to, allowing you to focus completely. The examiners are doing this for a job, they know you are nervous and they do take this in to account.

It is no different to driving with your instructor, I don't think someone can take help as seriously when you are saying you can only pass with using stuff to help you calm down on your 5th test.

It is completely different. Your driving with some random stranger who is going to fail you the second you make a mistake

I haven't said the only way you can pass your test is to drug yourself up. I suggested for people with nerve problems like I had, using something may help more than you think, it did in my case and I was able to think more clearly.
ask your driving instructor to do a practice test with you.

i was really nervous on my driving test, but i passed first time.

take some bach rescue remedy, it works wonders!

For me what helped is to not think about my test too much before hand. Focus on the procedures of your manoueveres and go through test routes and mistakes you tend make in your head instead and try not to spend so much time thinking about how scary the situation is.

Also try to not put a lot of pressure on yourself. I was convinced I was going to fail anyway so relaxed through the test as I didn't feel so on edge about any mistake I might make to cause me to fail.

Good luck!

Hi, i failed my1st test,i had a massive anx attack at the wheel, i was so scared as i wanted it so bad, i went home and cryed. Went to drs, he gave me a beta blocker 10 mg a small dose. I was scared to take it cos of a the hype id heard, but i thought id rather that than another aweful anx attack. I took it 2 hours before my test and felt myself calming down, my test was really good, didnt affect my ability in any way apart from feeling a tad tired, but i hadnt slept the night before. It was wonderful to do such an important test calm and controlled, and yes i passed!!!! Id do it again if i had to. Fantastic!!!

You bumped a 8 year old thread. I'm happy you passed your drivers text, but you're a danger to the road. If you have a panic at the wheel you're going to crash into someone.
