UCL seems to offer two types of history courses, and one (V100) requires AAAe and V101 only requires ABB. They seem to be the same things, what's up with that?

the V101 at UCL is run by the SSEES so it's more Eastern European History etc http://www.ssees.ucl.ac.uk/uhistory.htm#bahist

Not as popular as their V100 hence the lower entry requirements

v100 is more competitive course & has more range unlike v101 as mentioned, is focused on eastern european history.

I think they covered all that I was about to point out. Comes down to competition - if things are competitive, they can ask for good grades.
