As in, naturally occurring, from the ground. I was amazed to find they actually exist - very apocalyptic when you don't know its possible!

Apparently the tropical ones are quite rare.

Anyone else ever seen one?

I'm like you, and didn't actually realise they existed - very interesting to see that they do. The most 'exotic' I've seen is a double rainbow!

I've seen that happen quite a few times...one rainbow is usually a bit lighter than the other.

But never seen the fully circular one...:o:

I'm going to point out also that the photos we have are much better than those ones.

I wasn't trying to imply that double rainbows were especially rare - simply that they're the only variation on standard rainbows that I've personally seen!

If I saw that without having had seen this topic I think I'd be very confused. And I'd probably think something astronomically bad would be about to happen :P

Yeah I know I wasn't trying to say otherwise, or at least I didn't mean to! But yeah I'm the same....double rainbows is about as exciting as it gets for me too! :p:

I have, kind of. Normal rainbows look circular when you're on an airplane.

I'll have to make sure I get a window seat the next time I'm flying anywhere and it's raining!

I've heard of them, but I've never seen one. Actually, I think I've only seen one occurring in the sky. I've mostly seen ones in the water sprinkler.

That would be spectacular to see, best rainbow I've witnessed was under Victoria Falls (well most memorable).
Is this the same as a Rainbow Halo?

The best I've seen is a triple rainbow....a proper one, then a lighter one on the outside of it, than an even lighter one outside of the second one
