Can you tan in the evening? Because it is really sunny and clear.I know optimun time is mid day but the sky is always so much clearer in the evening.

Yeh I think you can. I got a bit of a tan at about 6 o'clock a couple of weeks ago. Never tried any later than that though.

Self tan is easier and better on the skin.

logically you should be able to get a tan any time that there are sun rays about.
It would take longer at night though I think.

Sun rays are nearly at their peak now. Should be plenty of sun tanning rays left.

Oh and I wasnt wearing sun tan lotion at the time. But of course I wouldnt dream of encouraging people not to protect their skin against the sun

Obviously you can get a tan in the afternoon/evening, but it will be no where near as effective as mid day as the angle at which the light is entering our atmosphere determines how much light passes through. Obviously the sharper the angle the less light passes through.

Pfft suntan am i the only one that burns as soon as they look at the sun? i once burnt all the back of my legs and couldnt sit down!

burning the top of my feet was really painful, i couldn't even wear flipflops, it actually really damaged the skin but i htink its ok now.
well you can't burn indoors because glass absorbs the UV rays that cause the real tanning. perspex lets some through.
and there probably isn't really a high enough intensity of sun-rays to tan in the evening.
