I want to set out a rough weekly budget now that I have all my student finance confirmed, but have no idea where to start.

Please share your advice, tips and ideas

It's pretty hard to judge before you've actually been there for a week (other than Freshers where you may spend more than usual). Take into factors such as: how often you'll go out and how much you'll spend on an average night out during the week, if you're catered halls - then how much will you be spending on food outside of uni during the week, clothes, miscellaneous such as cinema/bowling etc etc, travel(?) - bus/train journeys.. etc etc .You get the gist of things

work out how much money you have after rent has been deducted each term

divide this amount by the amount of weeks in the term

round it down to the nearest £10

this will also mean you have extra for freshers week

then divide this between necessary things
i recommend - 25%-30% on food (if self catered) 15% if catered, 10% on travel, 20% on sports/societies, and the rest on going out

hope that helps, if you need some help pm me...i love budgeting!
