are they any good? i mean why would this phone be sold for less than a third of its original price if it still works

Excellent bargain!:woo: ...I"m half tempted to get one myself, but alas, I have recently bought an LG Cookie. I think they are probably ex display models or ones that have been repaired , they probably come with a guarentee just like a brand new phone would.

They're (almost always, and I think unless stated otherwise) cosmetically perfect or thereabouts.

Usually a decent guarantee too (Carphone Warehouse, Orange...).

For something not too expensive, I'd definitely recommend reconditioned phones, particularly if you change/upgrade regularly.
