Yep, you'll need to get one, don't think any of the halls provide them. It is possible to buy them in St Andrews, so don't worry if you get there and realise you don't have one!

You should definitely bring one! A nice long one if you can, if you're the sort who likes to browse the net from their bed or something.

The union shop sells them, but they're quite expensive for little tiny cables.

I'm going into my first year at New Hall too
It sais on the new hall website that you need to bring one.

Actualllly guys, I'm volunteering at Albany Park, meeting the new students and giving out the orientation packs, and this year, at Albany anyway, so I'd think all halls would be the same, every resident is getting a free ethernet cable....score!

Ya, in New hall they gave them out for free, said they had a surplus of them

Because the costs involved to do so are extremely high compared with maintaining the existing wired network infrastructure.

Also it's quite hard to guarantee a good signal throughout the entire building, so wired is just easier (and it's a faster connection)
