For services to the Muslim community, charity and community relations - congratulations to all the Muslims, he's the first since Sir Anwar Pervaiz (owner of Bestway Cash & Carry) was knighted for his services in wholesale business.

Rabbi Jonathan Sacks also knighted for his services to the community and inter-faith relations.

Would it not be prudent to mention the Rabbi who also won a knighthood for the same reasons..?

Yah, they basically gave a knighthood to a few religious leaders from different faiths who have been instrumental both in their own communities, and improving relations with other faiths and other communities.

Some of the other knighthoods that have gone out seem a little...cheap though...

Personally, I've felt that over the years OBEs, MBEs, CBEs and knighthood have become so devalued that its no longer "special" to have one.

Being a religious leader is not worthy of a knighthood or honour in itself. If you're wanting to have some sort of national award, you've got to help more than just one small sect of the population.
