Well, I have a question! Its to do with the trapezium rule - I just cant get the right answer (I have a feeling my calculator isnt adding up right tho....) anyways heres my question:
Using 4 strips find the area under (4x+1)^0.5 between 0 and 1
So ive got my nice little table
x...........y
0-------1
0.25----root2
0.5-----root3
0.75----root4
1-------root 5
And Ive done my sum : 0.5 (1+root5 + 2(root2+root3+root4))*0.25
= 1.691
But the answer in the book is 1.588 - what have I done? hehe its gona be a really stupid mistake,
thanks !

can't see anything wrong at first glance.

∫(4x+1)1/2dx
= (4x+1)3/2/6

Integral between 1 and 0
= 53/2/6 - 1/6
1.697 (4sf)

so your answer is correct.

Circles are one of my stronger points... I like co-ordinates.

The trig stuff is kinda easy... just gotta remember a few rules by heart.

I always get mixed up with differentiation and integration, but I'll just remember which is which before the exam.

And with well over a week to go, that's plenty of revising time.
