I have found that after moving 2 m, the velocity is root 2g.

When A moves 2m B also moves 2m. From then on B accelerates only due to gravity since there is no tension left in the string.
So:
s = ?, u = ?, a = g, t = 0.2
so s = tu + ½at^2.....then h = s + 2.


i used:

v=u +at

v= (root 2g) + (9.8x0.2)
v=6.39

s= 0.5 (u+v)t
s=0.5(root2g+6.39)0.2
s=1.08

since s=h-2

therefore

1.08+2= 3.08m

You need to add Pcos θ (horizontal) and Psin θ (vertical) to the equations that you got when you resolved.

yes, but have proper equations first, ie. 9 + Psin θ = 0 and -3 + Pcos θ = 0.

Put the 9 and -3 over to the other side and divide the sin equation by the cos (ie tan 8 = -3). Find 8 and then substitute into one equation to find P.
