    how can you tell from the graph of a function if it has an inverse?

    if there is only one y value for each x value.

    If y is inversely proportional to x then there will be like a curve which never touches the y axis.

    a sort of banana shape if im not wrong

    if the function's continuous then it will need to be increasing or decreasing all the time

    it will then have an inverse back from its range

    if it turns back on itself it will take some values more than once and so not be 1-1 and so not invertible
