# simplifying watch

1. simplyify
3(x+2) / (8x+16)

I don't know what to do after expanding the brackets, I feel it must be something glaringly obvious but I can't see it

cheers for any help

2/x - 3/(x-1)

cheers

You don't need to take to expand out the brackets.
You can write it as 3(x+2)/8(x+2)=3/8

For 3(x+2) / (8x+16)

you can take a factor of 8 out of the bottom which leaves you with

3(x+2) / 8(x+2)

As you can see the x+2 cancels and you are left with 3/8's.#
I think

2/x - 3/(x-1)

cheers
6. Isnt that just putting over a common factor of x(x-1) ???

But -(x+2)/x(x-1) doesn't seem that simple to me :/ lol

yep it is just putting it other a common factor of 1 but I can't that lol, i will kick myself when someone shows me but I can't see it for the life of me

2/x - 3/(x-1)

cheers
simplifies to -(1+2/x) / (x-1)
9. Isnt that exactly what i've put except you've divided everything by x,

yes, but thats because you've asked to simplify it it, x seems common so divide by it
