This is my first post on here so I'd thought I'd try and make it a helpful one for all those Historians.
I've been looking over past papers from edexcel and the papers go back as far as June 2002.
Firstly I will go through the Stalin's Russia past papers and analyse what has come up and then predict what could come up.
a) Stalin's Rise
b) Soviet Policies were imposed on unwilling Russians - helped on by fear and terror.
a) Cult of Personality - and it's reasons for its rapid extension - 1929-41
b) Assess whether modernisation of Russia improved living standards
a) Stalin's Rise
b) The Purges - Were they down to Stalin's insecurity and division witin the Soviet leadership
From that, it is highly unlikely that Stalin's Rise will feature as a part a) question seen that it's been on twice in the past 3 years. Could be a part b) though.
As for the part b questions who knows, collectivisation could come up but b) questions are always hard to call.
On to Britain.
a) 1867 as a turning point for party machines
b) Reforms of 19th and 20th century down to existing elites preserving power
a) 1884 + 1885 - turning point in parliamentary representation
b) Protest and extra parliamentary pressure - reasons for reform in 19th and 20th century.
a) WW1 - turning point in parl representation
b) Reason for change in system 19th + 20th cent - down to landed classes determination to hold onto power
I don't like the b) questions in 2002 or 2004 and they are pretty similar as in both are about the elite and their actions in the reforms.
Therefore 2005 could throw up a 2003 esque question or an altogether new one.
As for the a) part, I reckon another 'parl representation' could occur, perhaps 1832 or 1867.
I hope I have given help to a few with this first post, if I haven't and have furthered worried the historians on this site then I apologise. Please don't take my predictions as gospel, they are all probably rubbish but its a habit I have (and detest) in predicting what may come up
