    The BBC has a report on their website into alcoholism amongst doctors. Some may ask how can we put our trust in someone who is unfit through alcoholism?

    It's certainly a problem that should be addressed. The protective nature of the medical community probably does nothing to discourage it. I don't see how much can be done to combat the issue until the culture of medicine changes.

    Treat the cause, not the disease.
    Decent pay and decent hours and holidays befitting the massive responsibilities held by docs.
