Unfortunately I have to rule out Biology if I get a B.....my school won't let you take it without an A or A* ...... oh well, I will keep my fingers crossed.
same, although this was more the teacher's decision than the science department's. other sciences took people with b's, but the biology teacher actually kicked out a couple of people with b's!

(or was that c's? hmm i cant remember)

Just don't get your hopes up on Durham, I think its fair to say they've screwed a few of us over in the last year or so

Your schools are stupid :p: Someone with a B at GCSE Biology is more than capable of a good grade at A-level if they are hard working. I am living proof!

i know, it wasnt the school it was the individual teacher. she just decided in the first lesson i think, as a few turned up who just got told to leave!

i dont think its fair to say durham have 'screwed people over'. not getting in doesnt mean theyve screwed u over. id count being screwed over as them offering u a place then withdrawing it

Thanks for your replies!

I'm more interested in Human Geography. I take it you can choose between Physical/Human at degree level? Is there a "mixed" course? I was thinking about Economics A-Level but thought it wouldn't be very useful....hmm...maybe I should re-consider

Thanks again!

i just about to start a mixed geog course but with the choices i make i can specialise in human geography which i profer , dont just think of subjects to take think key skills, do some work experince relevant to the subject. eg i did work experince for the national trust and town and country planning, it looksgreat on an appilcation and shows u have a true liking for the subject which is greatly liked by nearly all universitys

I'm (hopefully) going to Durham to do geography bsc in october, and i did geography, general studies, psychology and rs for a level....the last 2 of which have nothing at all to do with geography, and i got offered places by durham, nottingham and southampton, all of which ask for subjects that are related to geography...so i wouldnt worry too much about what a levels to take if you want to do a goegraphy degree!x

Sounds good to me .My motto was just to do subjects that I enjoyed and was good at, and if they're geography related then I guess its an added bonus! Yay for more geographers! xx

Definately go for a good personal statement for Durham. I'm pretty sure thats why they let me in because my GCSEs were crap and they offered me ABB which i scraped in the end, got a bit cocky with my grades and pretty lazy as it is. Cannot wait now.
