Blade attack angles
Hi all.
I am trying to work out the effective attack angle to the substrate of a wooden plane blade honed at
a particular angle (30 degrees, for example), when it is presented to the wood at a skewed angle
(for self built plane setting up and tweaking).
I know that there is a simple trigonometry/3d geometry formula for this, but school was too long
ago(!). I have seen people produce graphical results using excel spreadsheets in the past.
Anyone able to help? I know I could work it out by practical trial and error, but the correct
derivation is now bugging me.
