Can anyone help me out, I can't find a decent definition of Net Primary Productivity and I'm not sure how I could include it in an answer about forest ecosystems?

Anyone know any good sites or can help me here?

Thanks

Net Primary Productivity consists of the energy plants receive from the sun, less the energy they use for photosynthesis. Therefore, it is the energy available to be passed from the producers to the primary consumers. It is measured as kg/m2/yr.
