Ooh, I've just gone through rendzinas. Can't remember much though . The main thing that influences their profile is the limestone bedrock. It allows very little leaching, therefore the is no 'B' horizon. Limestone is permeable, and leaves little soluble residue when weathered, therefore a thin soil, with little moisture is produced. The dominant vegetation is grasses, which produce a litter layer rich in bases, so there is a high level of nutrient recycling. The A horizon contains a dark, mull humus, rich in nutrients. Does that help? That's all I know. How am I going to make that into an essay!?

If an essay comes up on lithoseres, plagio-climax communities or grasslands I'm pretty much screwed. Grasslands came up quite recently so I havent bothered learning them properly

Earlier in this I think i posted something about plagio-climax which might help you, it was based on the mediterranean. Im crap at any kind if succession. Iv got all my notes but have just been revising so hard the past few days im too exhausted now!! think i might just get up at 6 am and learn ecosystems then!
