I do not sing!

Doing modulations, chords, cadences, and piece discussion was enough to make me feel ill...let alone singing!

Sally wants me to practice my singing at home! I was like erm....

Well, I flatly refused to sing when she announced that the next thing we were doing was aural tests...so she asked me that if she copied me the CD if I would practice at home.....I kept quiet!

Congrats!

I used to play the clarinet when I was much younger (quit after grade 6) and I really thought I had failed my last exam too. The scales were awful and so was the sight reading. :frown:

I only passed by like, 2 marks!

It doesn't matter how many marks you pass by as long as you pass!
I've just got the date through for my grade 8 clarinet- 13th July. I haven't even looked at the aural tests yet- I'm scared!!! 100 scales (or scale/exercise style things)!!! How cruel is that?!?! xxx

I was going to do grade 8 clarinet but gave up! What pieces are you doing?
Reply 74
Has ANYONE ever achieved grade 8 piano? At mi school I've NEVER seen anyone get a grade 8 in it.

I'm doing the 4th movement of the Saint-Saens Clarinet sonata, First movement of Macolm Arnold's Sonatina for clarinet and, erm, the study with lots of sharps in the green book......maybe number 76. I obviously don't pay enough attention. The mozart was tempting but I felt that it's so well known that everyone has their own interpretation of how it should sound so the performance would be hard to pull off. x

Yeah I love the Mozart...but it's so long!!

I like Alan Ridout's Concertino and....yeash your study...I've played that..It's ok once you've got your head around the sharps!

I have the notes written above on any that confuse me- which is quite a few! It's pretty ok once you know it. The Saint-Saens is really long but worth it  x

Lol- good luck! I haven't seen the Saint-Saens one....I might look at it.

Aurals at grade 8 are YUCK!
