I know this is really late to be asking this, but does anyone have any past essay questions about this book? What themes should I revise? Am I going to have to talk about the stagecraft, verfremdungseffekt etc in detail?
Also, do we have to include quotations in our literature essays?

I can only answer one of those but yes you are meant to be able to put a few quotes in every essay.

I cant be specific for Besuch but try this
    Pick a character
Try to think of 5 personality traits
Try to think of an instance which shows each of these traits
Think of two key quotes that totally describe their role in the book

I dont know if this helps but I did this for coursework this year - my class did different topics - symbolism is a main theme (colour-, weather-, sound- symbolism - in this you can add verfremdungseffekt and anonimity - also black humour is a good theme.
