Can anyone tell the difference between how these two are carried out and their results?

emission is when electrons in an atom are exckited either due to collision of an atom with a particle or due to it being illuminated with a radiation.so electrons absorb the photon if it had an energy equals to the energy that is needed to raise it to one of the premitted energy levels,so when the electron falls down it emits energy that has a frequency equals to one of the colcured lights so we see a colour, while an absorbtion is when an electron take the energy of a photon and get raised to a higher energy level, this no emission of a radiation here

So how will we carry out an experiment to measure the absorption/emission spectra?

photoelectric effect I guess because electrons absorb the energy and are emitted
