Been digging Randy Newman lately, especially his first live album.

Favourite song at the moment is the 9 minute long demo version of Elton John's 'Madman Across The Water' with Mick Ronson (of Ziggy Stardust fame) playing an absolutely amazing electric guitar solo. One of the few tracks where the backing band out do John in such fruitful times. The only other notable exception being 'HAve Mercy on the Criminal', where the orchestration by Paul Buckmaster was revoultionary (even in classical terms), and absolutely stunning to say the least.

    Vast - ''touched''
Excellent choice. VAST are easily one of the best bands of recent years - their debut album 'V.A.S.T.' was stunning, while the follow-up album 'Music For People' was also excellent; I haven't heard their latest LP 'Nude' yet, but it has had some good reviews.

    Fave songs, eh?

    My Bloody Valentine - Sometimes
    Dir En Grey - Umbrella
    VNV Nation - Kingdom
VAST - Pretty When You Cry
    Skinny Puppy - Tormentor
    New Order - True Faith
Depeche Mode - Shake The Disease
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Moya

    And my guilty pleasure...

N*E*R*D - She Wants To Move [sure the lyrics are absurd, but it's still a great song, and proof that not all hip-hop is bad]
