Gold crest award

i did my nuffield science bursary this summer and today i got told that i got a gold crest award for it..was well over the moon for some time though thinking back another person from my school got this and my supervisor said that everyone of his students got this in previous years..is it really easy to get this? did anyone here receive this?

Kind of. It's easy if you do a nuffield bursary, as that covers that 100 hours of work you have to do towards it and the project. Outside of that, I think it'd be pretty difficult. Almost everyone in my group applied to do one, and our co-ordinator heavily implied so long as we handed all the paperwork in and could talk about our project for a while, we'd be sure to get it.

I've heard of some people getting this award recently. Wouldn't worry about it as it's still something you've achieved even if it's common.

They pretty much said as long as you fill it in you'd get one so I thought meh why not.

They pretty much said as long as you fill it in you'd get one so I thought meh why not.

lol didnt think it was that easy to get one..i actually worked quite hard to write my report..
did they advise you to nominate yours for the national engineering competition (big bang) for achieving a 'v.high' mark on the report?
sorry not trying to boast or anything..just want to know whether it was a standard thing they emailed to everyone..

I knowwwww, and I'm not usually like this. But I wrote like 9 pages and haven't written anything since for about 3 weeks :frown:

I might make up something like family bereavement etc if they say no. But yeah TOTALLY my fault :smile:

i did the EES and got a silver loool! 80% of ppl who applye for a crest award recieve gold!

but it was not my fault. we were in a team of 4 and we each had logbooks to show our progress and we had to hand them in to be assessed. one of our team members did not hand it on time which is why he didnt get any award and the 3 of us got silver :frown:

I only got £50, team got 500 in total but I wasn't in it for the money, I just wanted a good challenge and a fun project. :woo:
