# Moles Mass and something like it equations watch

1. Argh, these equations are really confusing... I can't seem to remember is it:

Moles = Mass X Volume or Mass = Moles X Volume or what?

and these 24dm^3 questions with gases... what's the equation for those, is it Volume = Moles X 24 or something like that... the question says:

(b) Use your answer from part (a) (2.88g of carbon dioxide will react with 11g of Sodium HydrogenCarbonate) to help you to calculate the volume of carbon dioxide produced,
at room temperature and pressure, from 11 g of sodium hydrogencarbonate. Show clearly how you work out your final answer.
The volume of the relative formula mass (Mr) in grams, of a gas, is 24000cm3 at room temperature and pressure.

how do you do that and why? and what are the various equations?
2. Moles = Mass / Molecular Mass (Mr)

The molecular mass is the mass of all the atoms in a compound added together.

Rearrange,

Mass = Moles x Mr

Or,

Concentration = Moles / Volume

Can't remember that... I use pV = nRT, but i think that's AS level
3. Oo thanks, I have just accidentally worked out that question...

If Volume = Moles X 24 (or in this case Volume = Moles X 24,000)
and the moles is 2.88 / 44 (RAM for CO2) = 0.0654
then 0.0654 X 24,000 = 1571cm^3
