    I think examiners are allowed to award bonus marks if they see that you are good at schemistry but haven't neccesarily addressed the question (at least that's what my teacher said, and he's like Chief Examiner for Edexcel A-level Chemistry...).

    That might boost your grades and your confidence

    Well - I suppose that its an example of how it could happen. What's important is that you say that it loses an electron...

    I said that "Br- forms Br atoms after the negatively charged ion loses a negatively charged electron (namely oxidation). As a result, the charge on the ion is lost, and atoms are formed."

    I think that's pretty comprehensive...

    I think that it was 2 marks - so one mark will probs go for the general concept of losing an electron, and the other will go for an explanation...

    And my explanation was just put there just to make sure I got the marks... I'm sure the mark scheme is actually v. leniant...

    the buckmeister fullerence answer is
    it has a lower m.p. becuase it forms only 3 covalent bonds and it does not have an indefinite structure like diamond, its a mollecuelle
