what are u talking about, ppl?Is it OCR B staged assestment or something else?
I did this and thought it was fairly easy. How did people find Biology, because apparently there is always one really hard one out of the three and I hope its not physics!

i just thought it was a crap paper in general in terms of questions asked. I mean, "why don't scientists publish their ideas?"and the difference between geologist and polymer scientist?....why not ask us things that require actual chemical knowledge and that we spent ages revisin on? problem is with these sorts of questions, there can be so many right or wrong answers, and that jst made me anxious after the exam
Definately, I never know how to answer the vague questions, whether to put in detail that doesn't seem relavant or whatever! The question about why their work hadn't been published-so annoying!
Someone I know who took foundation said one of the questions was like 'scientists communicate with email or phone....name one other method of communication' !!!!

iknow , it is pointless. Does anyone know whether the answer to the very first question was carbon, or hydrocarbons?

yeh it threw me coz it said 'substance' which made me think carbon because i thought of hydrocarbons as more of a collection of substances

It threw most people I know, including me, because it was badly worded I think.

I did foundation and I can confirm that we did get that question - it's just ridiculous.

I put hydrocarbons. Surely it would have said "which element?" if it were referring to Carbon? I'm probably wrong.

it was carbon dioxide - cos it was magnesium carbonate the substance

I think it was neutralisation because calcium carbonate is an alkali...not too sure
