    And...Why is ATP the universal energy currency? Is it because all cells use it and that all repiratory substances need to be converted into it before then can be resipired?

    I would think it's a universal energy currency because it's produced by plants in photosynthesis (and respiration) and in humans ATP is produced in respiration

    All cells 'trade' in ATP instead of using a series of other intermediates. ATP is an immediate source of energy, and is produced as an intermediate between energy-yielding and energy-requiring reactions.

    to add to that, its small soluble easily transported and quickly broken down to release energy
