Putting hair up

Does anyone know any websites with guides for putting your hair up eg for a ball? I'm going to be doing my own hair plus a couple of friends and while i can do a gorgeous style, I can only do one, and I don't wanna match my friends! Or if anyone can give me a little idea of how to do any pretty styles, I'll love you forever (and give you rep!! lol).

My friend did this on me -

Put your hair in a ponytail and take thin sections of hair, twist and pin up. Keep doing that with all the hair and if you pin a little lower down in the strand you get the ends of the hair sticking up in a fan. it looks all twisty in the end. I wore it for my Aunty's wedding and it looked good, but i don't have any pictures from the back to show you. xx

Wear it down. Seriously, everyone puts their hair up and you'll look different if you wear it down. Also most girls look better with their hair down, if it's done nicely.

Buy one of those hair magazines, they seem to have loads of different ways to wear your hair in them.

If you're going to search the internet, use the word 'prom'.

I agree! I don't get what the fuss is about putting hair up for balls etc. Ok, it may look more "glamorous" but if you want to look feminine with your dress and everything, I think hair down looks much better. And you won't be fussing about whether it's kept in place all evening!
Hey

For my prom last year i saved up thirty pound to have my hair done up professionally an it was the most amazing thing ever! Everyone commented on it, and so many people just took pictures of my hair because it was so intricate! The hairdresser took three hours on it and used 320 hair pins! Basically it was my hair in a ponytail with the front sections down. After this, a strand of hair from the pony tail was taken and it was made to use two sort of hills (very hard to explain) and was then pinned into place!

I'm really curious sparkly_tiara....post a photograph! For my Year 11 prom I had my hair tonged and the curls pinned to my head...it's kinda hard to explain but I'll post a photo if anyone's interested. It wasn't exactly as I'd expected, I didn't really like it but that could be just me not liking my hair up. For my year 13 one I had my hair made curlier than usual (its naturally curly and it just wont stay straight for any length of time) and then had the front section pinned back with a sparkly clippy thing and backcombed a bit. It wasnt a quiff or anything, just a little bit of volume so that it wasnt flat. Again, I can post a photo if anyone wants to see!
I think it often looks for nicer when you don't try and make it fancy.

Last one i had it in tiny plaits with the end dyed read and these tiny white silk flowers laced in - but i honestly didn't like it
This time around it's ringlets for me

I'm going to put mine up for my summer ball just because I have it down every other day of the year, and there's no other way to style it other than the way I do it everyday...so it's nice for a change.

I got my hair and makeup done professionally for my year 11 ball for £15 and it was so lovely to feel pampered.

Spend some time just making things up, try styles you would not usually like and modify them. Combine styles or do them backwards or at an unusual angle. But everyone does seem to have their hair up so maybe down with something decorative or you could try a big looooopy bow hehe
Hair up with bare, elegant neck and shoulders is so very magnificently sexy

I totally agree. You can't beat hair up on a hot chick.
Websites wise... look at wedding dress sites. The models will have impeccably beautiful hair and make-up.

Hi Lozza, you gotta at least check out www.cleo.com.au - I know it's Aussie, but we have proms/balls too, and the plus from using it is that you might find a unique style that no-one else will think of!!

Check out the hair section

Otherwise PM me and I might be able to sort you out.
