YES ANYTHING TO GET ONE OVER THE FRENCH
I was naturally supporting Paris, but since the french started booing London and then turning the whole bid into a national and anglo-saxon rivalry, I now glad London has won. The final video presentations did it as far as Im concerned.

I never post in Sports, but I'm happy.

I'm a proud Londoner (just about), the regeneration of the East End and transport is a certainty now (as is the extention of the East London line to Croydon ), and my friend is quite hoping to compete in the 2012 games. She'll be happy it's just down the road...

Yeah I know what you mean.

Obviously I'm completed biased, but I thought London's was definitely one of the best... whereas Paris just made me think "what the hell is this?" Although the fireworks at the end were nice

We were more lor less always nailed on to win it, in my opinon. I put a bet on London at 6/1 about a month ago - nowadays image always wins over substance; illusion always defeats reality. The French had a better bid, but we had the best campaign by far. Incorporating Live8 into it was masterstroke, and those final presentations were slick to the extreme.

Not that I'm bothered about it really. It's not even that local to me - I live in Middlesbrough - the French are closer to London FFS.
