Nor is Chris Read good enough with the bat.
Rod Marsh would disagree with you, and so would I. He bats as high as 6 for Notts FFS. He may not be as good as Jones with the bat, but is an excellent gloveman and is decent with the bat.

Batting is a more difficult thing to improve than keeping
I disagree, "wicketkeepers are born not made" a oldie saying. Comparing Jones to Stewart is preposterous - Jones has serious technical issues with his keeping.

I'm serious! I am opposed to any stupid hairdos or earrings on cricketers (that means YOU Andrew Flintoff and Kevin Pietersen!)

i think its unfair to compare anyone to Stewart. That man was a phenomenon, prolly the safest hands in the game and the ability to bat at 1 which he did. i think he leads the wk's on most runs from a certain gilchrist...

Had he failed to take that stumping, he would have quite rightly been shot.
I am sure I can still get that arranged:flute:

He is in the gun crime capital of the UK, Nottigham, after all...

Noooooooooooo! You can't shoot my ickle Geraint!! :bawling:
    *protects*

OK, maybe I shouldn't have compared Jones with Stewart. Really, all I wanted to do was mention Alec Stewart because I love him so much! (I cried when he played his last test match).

I quite liked the red thing James Anderson did to his hair.

Although, Kevin Pietersen's hair takes the biscuit.

Gutted. I want him to play so I can confuse him for Nasser Hussain every time he comes on screen.....
Just seen him on the balcony and he does!!!!!! Look a bit like Nasser I mean! Never seen the resemblance before! :p:

I hope that the last 2 don't put on 40 something like they did last time. The last wicket just now would be perfect.

There's a difference between averaging 40 odd in county cricket and being able to do it in Tests. He had so many chances and his average was just terrible. He didn't even look like he could stick around.

As a keeper myself, I can promise you that technical issues can be remedied. Half of it is confidence, to be honest.
