How many hours of lectures/seminars do you have per week?

I was discussing on another thread how I only had 8 hours of lectures and seminars per week and got accused of attending a "Mickey Mouse" university(which in all fairness, I am!). I thought this was the norm, as some of my friends have a similar amount of hours however the poster continued by stating that their friend has 20 hours a week at uni!

Anyone else out there have much longer hours at university? It seems completely unfair that we're paying an equal amount in tuition fees yet some are getting hell of a lot more tuition than others.

I have about 12/13 hours per week, sometimes more if I have the combined subjects module.

18, comprised of 12x1hr lectures and 6 tutorials/labs.
i have 10 and they're timetabled really badly, 2 hour gaps and 4 hour gaps which is incredibly annoying

Well I only have 9 hours, and Leicester's in the top 20, so I don't think it's Mickey-Mouse ish at all! But, I do have a TON of reading to do. I guess it depends on the course really. The medics here have 9-5 lectures all the time (so I've heard).

I expect most science subjects do because of labs, and the amount of stuff they have to learn rather than pontificate on, meaning they need more lectures. (And added to that the fact that it becomes more financially viable to do those lectures when lots of people need to learn the same stuff - unlike something like English where you could easily specialise early on) I had 28 hours of contact time in my first year of undergrad and the other scientists laughed at me for having so little compared to them. The biochemists, IIRC, had 40 hours in a typical week.

I'm not at Leicester but I'm pretty sure they'd have a 3 hour lecture in the morning. They'll be made to work till 5, through labs, SSC's or seminars etc. So it probably is 9 till 5, but not entirely lectures. That would be a nightmare.
3 modules (6hours in total)! . .

the sciences generally will have the higher hours - but it needs it. on average i had 20 - 25 hours contact time and was recomended to do 3 times that in reading every week

Quick question, I've applied to Wadham. It was last minute really and with the time I had to research the colleges, it seemed the best choice for me. Wondering what you think of the college?

I have 10 a week, although some are timetabled pretty annoyingly - on a Monday I have 1 seminar at 9.15 in the morning, and then nothing until 6.15 that evening.
I only have 7 hours a week (4 lectures, 3 seminars) but I'm expected to do a lot of independent studying/reading.
12 and a half hours of lectures (two of which on Saturday :frown:), two hours of supervisions.
about 25

then expected to do about 20ish hours of personal study a week ontop of that
I'm pretty much 9-5, with a few hours for lunch and "directed learning" a week. It's annoying seeing people who have 3 lectures a week and that's it.

I have 8, although I am doing a dissertation this year.
4hrs chinese
2hrs korean linguistics
2hrs korean translation

although I have homework and reading for each of these as well as a 10'000word essay to write. I also work so 8hrs of lectures is enough, it was more in the earlier years since I didn't have a dissertation~
I have 8 hours of lectures and seminars. I also have a four-day weekend, something which I didn't have last year.
