In dentistry we learn a lot about the head and neck, apparently in more detail than medics. Everyone always asks me why I want to spend the rest of my life looking into peoples' mouths - so I guess that's something you need to be okay with!!

Sorry for going slightly off topic but just out of interest.
Do Dentists get to prefix their name with Dr. similarly to Medical Doctors?

Become the very thing you're afraid of... mwhahahaha!!

Hehe true why would you wanna spend all your life staring at people's mouths, when half of them probably have bad breath and bad teeth? :puke: No offence to the dentists out there! So yeh I had no dilemma that I did not wanna become a dentist although I did consider Medicine for a while, but decided the workload is too much for me 5 years!? Seriously, I'm not that bothered about becoming a doctor - so there was no point in trying.

Mind you if I head for a PhD I'll have to spend 7 years studying, including my 4-year degree anyway... same difference really - but at least it's an option that I can choose only IF I love Neuroscience enough

yes if you qualify as a dentist you are qualified as a dental surgeon (thats the standard dental course at uni). So you are a Dr, but if you get a fellowship to the royal college of surgeons you become a Mr, Miss, Mrs etc, that could be why the dentist was Miss.

I think a doctor has alot worse 'holes' to look into than someones mouth.

They do in America so we should here too, it would make much more sense
