    what does it mean by skin to skin contact? because i read somewhere that condoms do not protect against things like herpes?

    Indeed - because condoms don't cover ALL the skin involved in sex. Skin-to-skin means what it says.

    Not sure what counts as a medically sensitive assessment, or what your link was supposed to show (doesn't work) - but to be very general, I'd say it was infection with herpes simplex virus. The two different types (oral and genital) used to be pretty separate, but that's become less so now, for reasons I'll leave you to work out.
