Do you not find internationalisms really annoying? I mean in exams they can sometimes cause you to lose a load of marks.

Like in Maths I was using the english version of a million and a billion etc, but the exam used the American version and I got it wrong.

In science today, it displayed "Harmful" as Xn rather than Xh (the english version), and I got that wrong too. It also referred to Petrol as Gasoline.

    What do people think?

Hmm...didn't notice a problem in Maths. I see what you mean about the Xn thing - that was annoying, although I did manage to hazard (ho!) the right guess. Gasoline, however, is a common alternative for Petrol, and it's covered in the syllabus always as Gasoline/Petrol, so I don't think that should have been a problem. I don't think it really matters, at all, really. It's hardly going to be responsible for the grade an individual achieves.

Hmm yeah but I mean 1 mark can be the difference between a B and an A etc, and besides its an English exam so I'd rather do english standards, or at least be informed by the exam boards to be aware of internationality

ok erm, I think that the exmination boards should inform their candidates of the universal aspects to their examinations.
