It varies so much that it's impossible to make a general statement like that.. it depends on what either one is doing exactly :dontknow:

If you don't know that then how do you know that dentists earn more than doctors? If you don't know this then you can't ask 'Why do dentists earn more than Doctors?'

I'm sure there some dental consultants out there that earn more than some doctors and some doctors earning far more than dental consultants!

"Looking at teeth all your life"....is such a typical notion of ppl...they keep forgetting that as a specialist doctor one sees the same things daily e.g a cardiologist will be treating the same MI's for the rest of his life, an specialist in orthopedics will see "bones all their life" etc etc

Dentistry also has the highest suicide rate among any profession. I guess looking at teeth all day long makes them suicidal!!

Dentists tend to earn more because they do more/ entirely private work

dentists employed by the NHS who work mainly with community dental services earn between £37,344 and £79,875.

Consultants in dental specialities are paid on the same scales as other hospital consultants and earn between £74,504 and £176,242 dependent on length of service and payment of additional performance related awards.

The average GP salary is £140,000

Most dentists do purelly private work, most doctors do atleast some NHS work. If you can find a doctor doing purelly private work then im sure he would be earning the same as the average dentist if not slightly more. I.e its most likely better to compare USA doctors earning to our dentists as that is a similar system to dental care in this country

Why shouldn't they earn more than doctors? Policemen, firemen and even, arguably, you could say that lollipop ladies save lives, but they are paid pittance. More lives you save =/= amount of pay.

    Because they are greedy???

In this country they work less hours than in most other countries (as do doctors) yet they get paid more. Doesn't make sense.
