# Some more P5 integration. watch

1. This question is in the book and a similar form in the mock paper Q..

∫ (x+2) / √(x2 + 6x + 4) dx

I'm not sure how to split up the numerator...

It's simply ∫ (x/√(x2 + 6x + 4) dx + ∫ 2 / √(x2 + 6x + 4) dx

∫ (x+2) / √(x2 + 6x + 4) dx

I'm not sure how to split up the numerator...
x² + 6x + 4 = (x+3)² - 5
x + 2 = x+3 - 1
So I = ∫tdt/√(t²-5) - ∫dt/√(t²-5)

It's simply ∫ (x/√(x2 + 6x + 4) dx + ∫ 2 / √(x2 + 6x + 4) dx

you guys starting revising already for P5 - man, nice and eaerly - better start too i spose

I pretty much finished revising at the start of May..., though I did recently do the heinemann review exercise again.
Now everything just depends on how it goes 'on the day'.

Hmm, well the teachers at my institution are notoriously badly organised so I teach myself. A friend hasn't finished P6 yet and we both have the exam in less than 2 weeks time
You may be more ready for the exam though as the module is still fresh in your mind.

I've just redone some of the Solomon P5s. Unfortunately, I seem to be making the same mistakes as when I did them the first time!

I'll revise the gradient proofs over the weekend, and one or two Reduction Formula nasties, like

∫(sin(nx))/(sin x) dx

Certainly I find the formula book essential for P5, but not needed for P4.

I'm sure you notice that you do questions more quickly as you get more practice. A few silly mistakes here and there aren't to be worried about too much, as there's usually extra time left to check work in the exam.

I think i'm going to forget about P2/P5 until Saturday afternoon as my time will be better spent revising Biology for Tuesday.
