Not to a major extent. I can stand spiders if they're relatively small and I know where they are but if one surprises me...

Once I woke up to find a HUGE black house spider sitting on my chest. I totally freaked out, screamed, woke my whole family and was actually shaking and couldnt stop. Heart was beating like crazy. And yet I've held a tarantula before, one of my proudest moments. It felt a bit like a kitten. I wasn't scared because I knew what was coming. So yeah...I'd say I was moderately arachnaphobic...

You do realise it's only a matter of time until someone posts a massive picture of a spider in this thread :P

I don't mind if the spider is not near me but if it is I panic and have to watch it until someone moves it. I was in the house on my own about a month ago and I walked out of my room and saw a huge spider. I was hysterical so my younger sister got her friends dad to drive her home from a sleep over to move it and then driver her back to the party. I can kind of cope with 1cm spiders but no bigger

I used to be terrible, even little ones would make me freeze and shiver. I've started to face them to tackle the fear and im much better, bigger ones still make me nervous though. I can stay in the room with one now. I need to face the fear as im hoping to go into wildlife biology and handling critters is a skill so, yeh. xD
I affectionately named one that lived in my room Voldermort but then her randomly dissappeared and another one took its place, so i called that one Harry.

I don't like small spiders, tarantulas I'm fine with and have held. What I hate most is the long, hairy-legged ones that scurry about very quickly bleh!
