I need some advice on how to detox. I have been smoking weed for quite a few years. Although I am successful in many areas I feel that this habit is stunting the overall quality of my life since I am unable to enjoy it socially - I can't smoke it casually like some people.
The fear of quitting altogether is too daunting. Besides I enjoy it too much to quit for good. Therefore I have decided to have a month clean from smoking weed and then see how I feel. I appreciate that this may be a denial tactic but I need to start somewhere.
It's only day 1 but already, my thoughts are dominated by the fear that I will have to be sober for all this time. I also feel slightly anxious but I know this is to be expected. I am coming up with a list of activities that are positive which I can use to occupy my free time.
Do any other smokers have advice to share? Has anyone been through a similar situation?

Hey man, I started doing the same thing as you about 2 weeks ago - though I've not cut out social weekend smoking if I fancy it. It's been good mate - once you start doing these positive things, you feel good about not being battered every night and actually achieving something.
I must admit though, instead of getting high, I have been slowly (no more than one a night) drinking through a very nice bottle of whiskey for a night cap. Saying that though, it's a very nice bottle of whiskey, one I enjoy drinking every time, and would probably have drunk it regardless of getting stoned or not.

After 3 days it goes away, seriously. I dunno if you bong or smoke J's but for me it's the tobacco I want. The main problem apart from that is the sheer amount of time that smoking takes up. I find a beer or 2 helps for the first few days, then cut off the beer, and you'll be done. If you do come back after a month of abstinence i'm willing to bet you'll get another honey moon period, and you'll love it even more, so make sure you keep it strictly weekends.
