    Isn't that just ridiculously elitist?

Granted I'm no fan of "Soulja Boy" but to claim that humanity is doomed imo reeks of elitism. It's understandable to not like his "music" but perhaps your claim is farfetched?

Wouldn't you jump around stage and sing the same words over and over again for at least a few hundred thousand dollars a night?

Of course, I am thouroughly considering following Souljaboytellems career path! I am not dissing Souljaboy's money making skills. I mean, he's like 17 and has sold millions of records, fair play to him.

It's the fact that people pay him a few hundred thousand dollars a night to perform that gives me the headache.

I don't believe so. I think the rise of Soulja Boy is the final, conclusive proof that deep down human beings are mostly idiots and that the planet is better off without us.

The third line of the chorus, "she's got a donk" really makes me stop and feel, very touching. Soulja is the best poet since 2pac.

There has always been art that's completely ********, and there always will. You're taking a very narrow view of things.

I disagree! I provide as a counterexample Unmade Bed, by Tracy Emin, which proves that humans will NOT pay millions for something that I could knock up in...ten...minutes.

    Sh*t.

    OP may have a point.

Yeah we're all going to die and existence is absurd and life is cruel, lonely and violently short.

    :ditto:

His music is trash, but that's just my opinion.

I'm sure the kids love it, so let them enjoy it.

Music and elitism go hand in hand.

I like to parallel music with civilisation. Imagine, the 60s/70s/80s/90s are Egypt + Babylon, right up until the Western Roman Empire, except instead of Vandals, Goths and Visigoths, it was the Y2K. Now imagine that Soulja Boy is the dark ages. Poor Soulja Boy.

Or alternatively he's pushing the boundaries of music.

I mean, I don't know if you've ever heard 4'33" by John Cage. Or anything from Philip Glass or Steve Reich. I actually find them unlistenable.
