All that would do is give the local government vast powers, which it would then abuse.
If you had sufficient levels, national, regional, local etc. then yo can successfully limit the power of any individual part of the government. I guess you're trading efficiency for limitations on power.

Sorry, so which is it? I'm genuinely interested in the point that you're trying to make, however if it isn't clear then I can even begin to.
    I'll rephrase the question:

Why do young people tend to reside on the Liberal "left" side of the centre only to move to the more Conservative right when they get older.

well as we grow older our brains slowly decay and on average I think we lose about 100 to 200 brain cells a day, isn't it only natural for this lose in interlectual capacity to led us to the right wing.... we no longer have the intelligence to realise what is right or to are able to resist indoctrination.

Hmm, there's certainly another side to the argument:
Right Wing Guy : You're just young and stupid, you'll realise the error of your ways when you grow up and become wiser.
Left Wing Guy : You're boasting about having the same views as OAPs? No thanks.

I don't think its anything to do with how 'intelligent' or 'wise' a person is. One possibility I would put forth is that many people become accustomed to a certain way of life, and do not want to let anything put that in jeapordy hence they are inclined to resist change. Young people do not have the same stability, with constant change, and the only instance of routine is the one forced upon them- hence teen rebellion.

They all have their own little stories.
I'm sure they all have their large bank accounts now too. The USSR wasn't socialist in my opinion.

Rightwing politics can be described as:
Selfish, despicable, tyrranical, insensitive, conservative, prejudiced, utterly myopic, unreasonable, serves disproportionate numbers in society, cold, illogical, ridiculous, deluded, sleazy, disgusting, inhumane, beyond reason, overbearing and several other words of contepmt. The Right simply disgusts me and makes me want to puke. I hate them, I hate them, I hate them, I HATE them. May the world be eternally exorcised of right wing politics.

Why would you be proud to be left wing?
Because - thank God - not everyone is like you.

If there is something I hate more than "Communist" students, it is "text book" young right wing idealogues. Both groups have in commin, the fact that they tend to speak of things they know little about. I hate the extremeties of the left and the right with equal vehemence.
