Hi, i need the advice of people

Where would you choose out of the two above options?

I am considering IB which would make city an excellent choice. However i feel restricted to finance/banking jobs if i choose this.

UCL Computer Science is more mathematical and i thought that it would look better to employers. The overall university reputation is good, however computer science is in clearing a lot of the time.

If i dont go into finance i have always thought about applying to join the commonwealth office, preferably embassy postings abroad. This is where i thought the reputation of UCL would help me over City....

Can i have your advice/votes please guys.......

    Thanks!

    BIF at City

the reason i belive is computer science is abit outdated now, the number of compscience grads without jobs is unbelievable, and seems job incomes have gone down dramatically, i know quite a few computer science grads who were gettn very gd money but now there isnt the same demand.
BIF is the future, plenty of money in that stuff
but its not all about money - its about what u enjoy so think what you would be happier doin in yr life
GD luck in what ever you choose

I wouldnt neccesarilly apply for a job in computer science, but it appeared that this would be better applying for government work (commonwealth, embassy, civil service, fastrack system etc), because UCL is respected more than city..........

Well, i have an interest in Investment Banking which therefore means that i simply need a mathematical degree. However if i do the BIF degree i will be graduating from City university, which whilst i apply for london finance jobs it might restrict me if ever i wanted to change careers because the course is so specialised. The reputation of city is also not as good as UCL's, but the City business school is quite well known.

UCL has a very good history and is in the G5 (top 5 universities in the uk). The degree would appear to be more mathematical and it would not only let me apply for IB jobs, but i could also (if i did have a change of mind) apply from a more reputable university if i wanted to go into the civil service.....?

Am i talking rubbish here? lol

as cliched as it sounds how about you choose what you're gonna enjoy the most? There's no point choosing 1 just cuz someone has told you it has a better rep, but not nesseccarily being THAT interested in the actual course, cuz ull prolly end up graduating with a bad mark. You must have a preference for one or the other?

Depends what you want to do when you graduate mate. If you really want to get work abroad go for UCL, as alot of worldwide companies recruit from universities with outstanding reputations. If you want to get a job within the UK with the 2 options you have available, Cass looks like a better option.
