Anyone else waiting on a Techne / AHRC decision?

According to Royal Holloway, it seems we should hear from next Friday - not long to go now 🤞 https://royalholloway.ac.uk/studying-here/fees-and-funding/research-degrees/sources-of-funding/arts-humanities-research-council-funding-ahrc/techne/

Did you hear anything yet? I am also waiting I wonder when results will begin to be released….

Results will almost certainly have been delayed by the UCU strikes. Further, it is difficult to know when the release will be as Techne leaves it down to each institution to let applicants know. NBC was delayed by a week and SWW by a month, so we're probably looking at something between that.

I found out today my application was unsuccessful. Good luck anyone still waiting…

This is helpful to know, thank you. I am sorry to hear you didn't win funding. Would you mind letting me know which institution this was?

Good luck to everyone waiting for SGSAH's final decision today. Let me know if you were able to secure a studentship or not. Fingers crossed.

Good luck for SGSAH everyone!

BTW SGSAH have just tweeted to confirm that decisions are definitely being released today

I’ve won at another DTP than SGSAH, so if I win again on Friday the first reserve will have some joy.

Did you find out if you won? I'm reserve 😂 don't know where on the reserve list though.

I did not win, I'm afraid. I was also waitlisted, but should I come off the waitlist I will decline. I am sorry to hear that you did not win!

(SGSAH has now been released).

They've not all been released I don't think -- someone on on my MSc hasn't received an email and there's nothing on their portal either.

I'm actually pretty pleased to be waitlisted given the competition. There's internal ones too so more limbo until I know for sure.

Just got declined. Not even reserve. ):

Best of luck everyone.

Hi guys! Luckily, I was offered a studentship and accepted it. See you in Glasgow soon!

That sucks, I'm sorry. My friend also was and it was a great project. It is brutal. But, there is still college of arts scholarships!

Congratulations! What's your project?

Does anyone know if getting on the reserve list gives you a bit of a boost in regards to institutional studentships? There's 6 available at mine, but awards aren't made until after the dust settles on SGSAH and Carnegie.

No, I'm afraid not. Internal scholarships are often lined up for strong candidates who are not eligible to apply for funding like SGSAH. Further, as far as I know, Carnegie scholarships were awarded back in February. This is not to say you can't/won't win an internal scholarship, but failure to win funding is not an indication that you are, thereby, more likely to win other funding. Internal scholarships are typically even more competitive than DTPs. If you want to win funding you really want to be winning DTP funding. Everything below the DTP (esp. in A&H) becomes narrower and narrower.

Carnegie isn't announced until end of May. Our internal scholarships are the same cohort that get nominated for SGSAH; it's essentially the same application. Thanks for the input though

Not quite. At Glasgow SGSAH and the notoriously oblique ‘college scholarship’ use the same form only for convenience in the internal stage(s). The actual application to SGSAH is completed using smapply (as you presumably know?). That is, you can apply for the College Scholarship but not SGSAH (or the inverse) The internal stage defines your ranking at Glasgow, and so the outcome of your SGSAH application will not affect your internal ranking. Of course, those ranked above you may have won SGSAH and so bump your internal ranking up, but equally those below you might win and so reduce the number of College Scholarships above. Finally, a contextual round for widening access will be applied this year.

I apologise for the mistake above - I had only meant to note than Carnegie internal selection was completed in February (i.e. candidates selected for the external round).

Yep, that's what I meant. Then initial "let's see if we'll nominate you for SGSAH" application (i.e. applying to department) is the same as college, and then nominated for SGSAH. What I meant is that the processes are not separate.

I tick two of the priority areas this year, so we'll see.
