# EDEXCEL P5 JUN 05 - HOW DID IT GO? watch

1. (Original post by hajira)
yeah the y was there alrite
... and I missed the y ... haha! ... I'm glad I don't need a further maths grade. Anyone here doing m5 on friday?
2. omg for question 1 i didn't put my calc in radians.. would i lose both marks even if my work was correct?
3. (Original post by amo1)
i got a differn qu8 answer, i think mine had a log with a root in it
Mine did too, but I'm not convinced it was right.

And looking at the one answer / two answer things, I think you were supposed to use part a of the question to show that there's another root for arsech 2/3 (I think that's what it was...)
4. (Original post by amo1)
i got a differn qu8 answer, i think mine had a log with a root in it

my written mistake..

it was ln( (3+ root 5)/2) and ln( (3 - root 5)/2 )!!!!!

one more written mistake... sorry about that....
5. Anybody got the paper?
6. (Original post by Savioahang)
my written mistake..

it was ln( (5+ root 3)/2) and ln( (5 - root 3)/2 )
Woo!

Still missed the second of those, but I can see why, now (wish I had a beard to stroke thoughtfully....)
7. hmm.. it's +/- ln[(3 + rt(5))/2]

That was hyperbolics wasn't it? So it doesn't matter.
Or maybe it wasn't hyperbolics...
10. someone please post the questions and the marks for each question

then i will love you forever
1)
a) 1/2 arcsin2x - 1/4 (1-4x(sq))^1/2 + c
b) i got 0.151 but i know it was 3. something, bloody calcualtion error

2) b) 128/289

3) area = (6/5) pi a^2

4) b) i did 1/2 e^2 for some reason i forgot the constand from I0 i dont know why!

5) b) 4py = x + 16ap^2

d) focus (25a/16, 0)
Directrix x = -25/16

e) a parabolas to the right of the y axis with m smaller than n (smaller meaning less height above and below on the y co-ordiantes both parabolas through 0,0

6) 7/4 ln(2 +3^1/2) - 1/2 (3)^1/2

7) p = 2 ( i kno it was 2root3 for some reason i thought cos (pi/6) was 1/2 i have no idea why)

8) c) x = ln (3/2 + 1/2 root5) and x = ln (3/2 - 1/2 root5)

some silly calculation errors that really is unlike me, i blame the heat!! well my methods were correct just a few final answer flaws hope i only lost 1 or 2 for that bit, what do you think?

Don't stress, the majority of people on here are airing their egos. The people who'll skew the UMS to give us decent marks won't even be here. (Trust me, at my school I'm relatively good and that was a terrible paper for me)

Or maybe it wasn't hyperbolics...
It was integrating (x+1)/(1-x^2)^.5 or something like that. The answer had arcsin in.

Oh right yeah. My mistake.
15. nobody has the paper?

no worried i think we got the same 4 da rest of it tho
17. I thought it was ok. Only need 44 for this thought

Couldnt do 6, got an answer that didnt match . Also on 8c I found out what sech x was and got 2 answers that couldnt exist . Dont know about my sketch either but that was only 2 marks

Apart from that it was pretty nice Lots of prove questions so you have a ood idea of what your going to get

I think you're right. Contributors to this thread, by definition, care about the paper and what they did on it. Candidates who made a real pig's ear of the whole paper and have consequently concluded only that the world is unfair, are somewhere else...
