Shame. Maybe if you went I would meet a worthy opponent.

Go anyway, and claim some scalps. If people are big enough Magic geeks, they will gaze in awe as you list the people you beat.

    Say, I beat Patrick Mello.

I never thought I'd be able to use that story again.

Its been many years since i played but when i did i played with a rat deck.

It wasn't brilliant but i was a pretty good strategist and it was so humilliating for people when they lost.

    ooh! an M:tG thread.

Hopefully off to Lancaster in a few months, at which point I hope to resume playing. The last official game I played ended in agony, back in Onslaught block...

Picture the scene. PTQ Yokohama. Here I am, a gradually improving but impoverished player who delights in sealed and cannot signal in drafts for love nor money. A pretty tasty sealed pool and some fantastic quick-wittedness (I put that down to Lucozade) had got me into the Top 8. So here I was in the semi-final, facing none other than Scott Wills himself. The game has been long. We're sitting at one game apiece, and we are into extra turns. The fourth extra turn. We are both on two life, although I have significant board superiority in a creature stall, and I will absolutely, positively put lethal damage through on the next turn (and in doing so, advance to a PTQ final having beaten someone who in the next four months would become both the UK's #1 rated limited player as well as the magicthegathering.com specialist limited columnist). He has on the table Ward Sliver, I have four creatures untapped that could block it. He has no cards in hand. He draws. I am supremely confident. I am going to win this game, at the tender age of 14. "**** yeah", I am saying to myself. But then, he draws.

and just like that, out I go. with half a box of boosters under my arm, certainly, but nonetheless a loser.

So, as I'm sure you can imagine, I rather want to remove this unsightly stain from my memories of Magic. Hooray for uni!

Well if you were to travel at the speed of light, itt would take less than 0.0000135 seconds to reach cardiff. Now thats hardly far is it?

And if you were to travel on tortoise back it will take you 6 years, 37 days, 11 hours, 6 minutes and 22.4 seconds...

I'm seriously thinking about going to a prerelease. I'm not sure how good an idea that is...
