yep, it's a crap hole, but better than the townie **** places like Ikon!
Ikon, Jesters - they're all quite crap. Soton really doesn't do the nightclub thing very well - there are some fantastic pubs though (and of course the new nightclub at the student union which can be ok). Bournemouth can *do* clubs....but then I don't like the atmosphere in Bournemouth at night.

Now Liverpool can do nightlife - pubs and clubs (and cheap and safe(so long as you aren't daft)).

For nightlife Manchester is very hard to beat. Four large universities all right next to each other:

    Manchester University = 30,000 students
Manchester Met University - 30,000 students
    Salford University - 18,000 students
    UMSIT - 8000 students.

All these universities are within 2-3 miles of each other. The clubs in Manchester are just great. Take 5th ave for example, a great indie club which has no scallies. On a firday night, £2 in, £1 for a vodka red bull. Its even cheaper on mondays! There are loads of clubs like this in Manchester.

Also bus travel can be as cheap as £3 per week!
