    can someone explain to me what linked genes are, im doing edexcel module 5 tmmrw, rep will be given

    as in sex linked genes??

    linked genes are when there are two genes present on the same chromosome thus they are more likely to be inherited together

    sex linked genes are when the gene is present on one of the sex chromosomes and so it's inherited with gender (though i don't think you have to know about sex linked genes for Edexcel)

    linkage is effected by crossing over in prophase I, however

    crossing over would cause the alleles to swap between homologous chromosomes at a bivalent
