i have just heard that graphical calculators are allowed. is this very neccessary for the exam? and if they are, is it worth me getting one this late?
oh and how many people here plan to use a graphical calculator for this exam?

I find graphic calculators useful (C3 +S1), but it is not a necessity. I think only myself uses it in the whole school =| Not sure how useful it is in C4 though.

graphical calculators are allowed, i have one and will use it but theres not a whole lot of use for it in c4, except for checking answers (and storing formulae if you're inclined to cheat :rolleyes: )

i wouldn't bother getting one this late for this exam

i agree with wolf, c3 and s1 are the modules (which i've done so far) which it has been most useful for

btw, the zigzag markscheme link is wrong it is the same as the zigzag questions. Would it be ok if you can post up the MS when you got time :smile:

Does anyone know if there is a mistake in the Solomon Mark Scheme for Paper A C4?

On question 5 it has a trapezium rule table:

x: 0; 0.5; 1; 1.5; 2
y: 0; 1.716; 1.472; 1.093; 1.083

The formula is y = 4x1/2e-x

Whenever I try x = 2, I get 0.7656 for y and not 1.083.

Can anyone confirm this as an error or back up the mark scheme?

Or is there just something wrong with my calculator.

5.1) dy/dx= -2cos2t/sint

2) t= - pie/4 and + pie/4

5a)

dy/dx = dy/dt / dx/dt
= -2cos2t/ -sint

c) just means dy/dx = 0
