    They usually give you some indication whether or not one of the balls changes direction after the collsion. It doesn't matter whether it changes or not, you can still do this.

    Say if they say, the direction of P is reversed due to the collision, and 'v' is the velocity of P after the colliion, then you say:

    v < 0 (v is less than 0) and solve the equality to get 'e' as the subject.

    If they say the direction of P is unchanged then you say

    v > 0 (v is greater than 0)

    I think you usually use the ball where there is some uncertainty which way it is going to move after the collision...

    I hope this helps.. It might be a bit confusing.. (i have that effect on people!)

    Can anyone help with question 29 in Review Exercise 2...

    I'm having trouble finding out the anti-clockwise moment about O keep getting an answer that is different from the back of the book... :rolleyes:
